Responsible Care
Environmental
protection has played an important role for Bayer since the turn
of the century, well before it became the focus of public concern
in the 1970s. Today, Bayer's scientists are working to improve
the environmental compatibility of products and processes still
further, for the good of mankind and the environment. |

What
is done in Indonesia ? In terms of safety, each production facility has its own safety features, meeting Bayer Group standards. Buildings are equipped with air sprinkles and hydrants (both water and foam), inside and outside. A fire fighting team is operational around the clock, and every 3 months simulation training is held at the plant with the Bayer employees and outside fire brigades. Our plant in Pulogadung is equipped with a double burning chamber high temperature incinerator. This devise can treat both contaminated liquid and solid waste materials. The incinerator can operate 24 hours per day with a capacity of 500 tons per annum at a temperature of 1300° C. Besides that, the company also operates a biological water treatment facility designed to reduce both biological and chemicals oxygen demand, and acquilisation tanks which adjust the acidity levels of the water resulting from the water treatment. From the acquilisation tank, clean water will be produced which is completely safe to be channelled trough the public irrigation system. For air pollution, the company applies air pollution control by active carbon air filtering system to minimize dust and smell caused by the production process. The integrated system of environmental control for solid and liquid waste as well as air pollution has been installed by the company following the Bayer Group global standards. |
