DESIDERIA CEMPAKA WIJAYA MURTI

Desideria is a student of Faculty of Social Science and Politics, Atmajaya University of Yogyakarta. She has lot of activities in sustainable development projects such working in Stitching Help Yogyakarta, a Dutch Foundation which supports the post-earthquake rehabilitation in Yogyakarta by improving the quality of education through provision of free education, in collaboration with a Dutch vocational school and other projects.
Essay:
Her essay explained about the Independent Energy Community to counter Bio Fuel Dilemma. The project is to maintain the capacity of national supply energy system by collaborating with government in supervision and financing the project through monitoring system, education and socializing the bio ethanol resource awareness without destructing forest and land.
DANANG AMBAR PRABOWO

Danang Ambar Prabowo studies Marine Science and Technology, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science, Bogor Agricultural University. He is actively involved in national and regional scientific and social activities. He was recruited by Surfactant and Bio-Energy Research Center (SBRC) as researcher and became vice coordinator in marine micro-algae bio-energy development division.
Essay:
Danang Ambar Prabowo focuses on Indonesia’s Energy System: Development, Problem, and Solution. He emphasized the use of renewable bio-energy source such as the development of micro-algae bio-energy. He said that the world needs a source of renewable bio-energy that will not affect food security as well as environment and socio-economic aspects, and one of the solutions is by using non-food material.
PRADYGDHA KUMAYAN JATI
Bandung Institute of Technology, Bandung
Pradygdha studies mechanical engineering at Bandung Institute of Technology. He once studied about various municipal waste processing technology for Bandung in order to give a perspective about the environmental impact and economical prospect of each methods for the city.
Essay:
In his essay, titled the Powerful Indonesia, he said that in order to match environmental aspirations against the practical realities of day-to-day needs and improving standards of living, the people from rural area must receive the knowledge and technology to use renewable resources which are available in their area, and encourage the government to minimize the pollution from fossil fuel power plant by increasing the quality of flue gas and waste processing. The first activity is to survey the available renewable energy and the infrastructure in the area. Then the next step is to encourage the application to local government and the villager by promoting a pilot project completed with rural application such as hybrid design of micro hydro and wind turbine for irrigation system. The Gorlov turbine is a good example for a mini hydro power plant, because it is highly efficient to generate power.
