Arize Hibrindo
Arize hybrid rice seed has been registered and released in Indonesia since 2003 with variety name Hibrindo R-1 and Hibrindo R-2. These both hybrids met with Indonesian farmer preferences, i.e. higher yielding with 10 - 12 MT/ha fresh unhusked grain, better tolerance to pest disease and match with grain and cooking preference. This is coming from continuous research and development program in main rice area, and completed with agronomic package trials to sharpen Arize Hibrindo superiority.
Bayer CropScience starts to commercialize Arize Hibrindo R-1 in 2006 in main rice areas, like East Java and West Java, while Hibrindo R-2 is still on next stage of development. Using strong expertise of Bayer CropScience as “rice specialist”, introduction program to farmers is aimed to get awareness and intention to develop hybrid rice as prospective solution for Indonesian farmer.
