BioScience uses plant biotechnology and modern plant breeding techniques to improve the quality of crops, increase yields and create innovative solutions to meet the increasing need for renewable resources. Bioscience is one of the three business groups in Bayer CropScience; the two others being Environmental Science and Crop Protection. Together with Crop Protection, BioScience offers an integrated portfolio of crop solutions including high quality seeds, trait technologies and high performance crop protection products. In Indonesia, BioScience focus its efforts and working on hybrid rice and vegetables.

In hybrid rice, BioScience provides a range of hybrid rice seeds adapted to diverse agro-climatic conditions and customer preferences in the Indian sub-continent, South-East Asia and Latin America.  With full expertise on hybrid rice, BioScience wants to contribute to food security and improving food profitability, especially in rice as staple food for a half of world population.

BioScience introduces Arize as global umbrella brand for hybrid rice seeds portfolio.  Arize refers to positive standpoint, evokes entrepreneurship and bright future. Arize Hybrid Rice seeds are already commercialized in India and the Philippines. Market introduction is planned in 2006 in Indonesia, Brazil and Vietnam.
